The Alzheimer Flame of Hope organizes and administers
the Canadian Memory Screening Program. Our registered charitable
foundation provides:
-education to Canadians to recognize the early signs of memory
loss in their aging loved ones and to encourage treatment with medication
when it is most effective.
-routine annual memory screening to Canadian seniors to detect the
early stages of memory loss and to encourage treatment with medication
when it is most effective.

Dr. A. Johnston, AFH Founder-Biography
Dr. Alan Johnston is a well-known and popular educational
speaker as well as an advocate for the early detection and treatment
of patients with Alzheimer’s disease. He has been a family physician
for forty-four years including five years as a clinical instructor
at l’Universite de Sherbrooke. He created the Alzheimer Flame
of Hope in honour of his step-mother and his father-in-law, both of
whom died from Alzheimer’s before treatment became available.
He is the author of the bilingual booklet “Is My Family at Risk
of Alzheimer’s?” of which 260,000 copies have been distributed
free of charge throughout Canada. Because his presentations have become
so popular, he has graciously agreed to prepare them on CD and make
them available as a fundraiser to the Alzheimer Flame of Hope, a registered
charitable foundation promoting the early detection and treatment
of patients with Alzheimer’s disease. |
